For two weeks, "Friends" enjoyed a sellout run at our theater. Our audiences loved this well crafted play written by Peter Levy and performed superbly by two outstanding actors, Judy Spiegel and Harlan Tuckman. The subject matter of growing old, companionship, and what the future might have in store for many of us is treated so well: you laugh, you commiserate, you are surprised at the turns the play takes, that before you know it the final scene has you teary and then feeling happy - but you want to know more of what is going to happen to Ruth and Max. Bernice Garfield-Szita, Artistic Director, The Center Playhouse, Freehold, NJ
The After Hours Club booked "Friends" as part of its series of performances in the clubhouse. This two-act play, starring Judy Spiegel and Harlan Tuckman, received a standing ovation. We had over 250 people in the audience and they enjoyed the show greatly. Many in the audience found it nostalgic, full of laughter, and sensitive; they definitely related to the theme and were "into it." I highly recommend this play for all audiences. Barry Geffner, President, After Hours Club, Greenbriar Wittingham, Monroe Twp, NJ
As producer of the West Boca Theatre Company, which is part of the Cultural Arts program sponsored by the Adolph and Rose Lewis JCC, I most heartily recommend the Donis and Tuckman production of "Friends." Our South Florida response to the play was extremely positive, and the word-of-mouth insured a successful run of the show. Primarily, our audience is a senior Jewish population, and the play’s themes definitely responded with them. All-in-all, "Friends" was a hit!! Thank you for giving us the delightful, original and intimate play "Friends." We were treated to a touching and humorous view of the evolution of the relationship of two older strangers. Judy Spiegel and Harlan Tuckman performed perfectly as the play developed through several scenes. It played so well in our Ballroom to a very appreciative audience that could certainly relate in a big way. Our Activity Department received many kudos for bringing this production to our community. .....we knew the people would enjoy the show, hopefully as much as we did. Never did we expect such terrific reviews. We had a nice crowd, they cried, they laughed and were so pleased with the show "Friends" that my phone rang off the hook for days afterward. Whomever will have the pleasure of seeing "Friends" will love it! Doris Ochin, Treasurer, AARP Chapter, The Villages Community, Freehold, NJ
Just wanted you to know that we saw "Friends" in NYC today and what a delight. We’ve seen the play before but in NYC, it had a special edge, you know, that NYC/Broedaway glitter effect........Full house, appreciative audience and a cozy feel that matches trhe play......enjoyed the intimacy and immediacy of the performance. So did the audience. Gabriella Sleppin,Dir. Community Relations Council, Jewish Federation of Middlesex Cty, NJ
